A Mat Pilates Celebration!

Let’s take the Mat Pilates system one day at a time.

If you know me, you know I love any reason to celebrate and March has the perfect one: March Matness!

If you’re not familiar, this month is Mat Pilates’ big month! Each day of March, we celebrate the Mat Pilates system by focusing on one movement (here’s the calendar if you want to check it out). 

It’s the perfect way to bring yourself back to the basics of Mat Pilates, to see how far you’ve come in your practice if you’re a seasoned Pilates veteran and a great way to learn more aobut the movements in the system if you’re a newbie. 

I also personally like to use it as a reminder for why I love Mat Pilates so much in the first place, like the fact that it:

Helps me see my body in a new way

My body has changed a lot since Charlie showed up. Slowly dipping my toe back into Mat work has helped me reconnect with both my physical and mental sides and reminded me how they can work together to support everything I do.

Fires up the WHOLE body

Mat Pilates is a strength workout that warms you up from the inside out by recruiting multiple muscle groups at the same time. But it also emphasizes core strength, stability and flexibility, all important factors in helping your body move well throughout life.

Is accessible and efficient 

And don’t we all love that?! While equipment is fun, Mat Pilates can be just as effective using only your body. And that means accessing your Pilates practice is super easy to do anytime, anywhere (think in your house, at your hotel, by the pool or on the beach…)

I’ve had many clients join me in March Matness over the years and I love hearing the feedback on how focusing on just one movement has changed their perspective - from how their bodies move, to how they breathe, to what they love about the practice.
